GC115 – Readscan – SQRRR – Creating Question Marks (Reading Journal)

GC115 – SQRRR-S4 – Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review – For reading notetaking purposes, in a four-step process, Alexa or Instructor will lead students, individually, with a partner or small group, to survey their prior knowledge and write down what they already know about the lesson topic. After writing down their current knowledge, students will take time and survey the reading material’s headings, sub-headings, bolded words, charts, picture and topic sentences and generate possible quiz questions on index cards. During and after reading the assignment, students will be directed to answer each quiz question in his own words on the backside of an index card and write confusing points on post-it notes. Last, students will review confusing points with a partner and then use the index cards as Flash Cards and repeat the answers in their own words.
