GC203-S3 – Guest Speaker Reflection – Alexa or Instructor will guide students, as directed, individually, with a partner or small group to discuss, understand and personalize the information gained from the Guest Presenter in the classroom. Students will determine whether or not they are of the same opinion.  Last, students will be directed to share how this information connects with what they have already read or heard on the topic. (Option – Journal Entry)

GC204-S3 – Questioning the Author – After reading information, as directed, individually, with a partner or small group, Alexa or Instructor will guide students in reflecting on what the author is saying in the reading assignment and whether they are in agreement.  Last, students will share how this information connects with what they have already read or heard on the topic. (Option – Reading Journal Entry)

GC202 – Expert Quest – Field Trip Reflection

GC202-S3 – Field Trip Reflection – Alexa or Instructor will guide students, as directed, individually, with a partner or small group to discuss, understand and personalize the information gained from the field trip attended.  Students will share the most interesting, surprising new facts and connect to their prior knowledge.  Last, they will share other significant observations and real-life applications learned. (Option – Journal Entry)

GC201 – Expert Quest – Guest Speaker and Field Trip Prep Tool

GC201-S2 – Guest Speaker and Field Trip Prep Tool – In a two-step process, Alexa or Instructor will guide students to prepare for an upcoming presenter in the classroom or in the field.  Students will be directed to write a couple of quality quiz questions to insert within a Question Bank.  Some of the questions will be selected to be asked during the session with the presenter. Then, remaining bank questions will be distributed, researched and answered individually, with a partner or small group, within an established timeline.

GC200 – Expert Quest – Jigsaw Style Expertise Tool

GC200-S3 – Jigsaw Style Expertise – Alexa or Instructor will guide students through a three-step process of establishing base learning groups and expert learning groups.  Each base group members will be assigned an area of expertise.  Each expert will be dispersed throughout the room with like experts to read, research and discuss their topic.  Last, Alexa or Instructor will have the experts return to their base group and provide an expert reflection and discussion.  (Teaching others generate a 90% retention rate – James Madison University, 2015)
