Learning is defined as . . .

“Learning is defined as changing the structure of the brain. It is reported that all new information is incorporated into existing neural networks. An individual’s neural wiring changes as he or she learns activities. If an activity is new, the brain will respond slowly and start to develop new connections. (Jensen as stated by — Cercone, 2006.) The brain learns by overlaying a known pattern onto an unknown pattern to find similarities and differences. When learners compare and see similar patterns, and contrasts things to find differences, learners make connections and can better understand concepts. This fosters relationships and connections to new understanding (NREL).
